CF5 — All-round shape with a Softer response

The Genesis CF5 is for players who want a forgiving composite stick for core skills and developing all-round play.

Why choose the CF5?

Choose this stick when ease of use and a softer response matter more than maximum stiffness. The CF5 gives a composite construction with very low carbon content rather than using carbon as a quality ladder.

All-round bend / shape

The CF5 is designed for Mercian's broad all-round route rather than a specialist Xtreme, Ultimate V2 or DSH shape, keeping the shape straightforward for developing core skills.

Softer response

The CF5 sits in Mercian's Softer response band. Its current construction uses 5% carbon and 95% fibreglass, keeping the feel forgiving and accessible.

Construction, touch and control

  • Fibreglass-rich construction: keeps the stick more flexible and forgiving than higher-carbon constructions.
  • High-friction face finish: supports ball contact and adds damping.

These features help explain the finished stick. They do not replace the more important bend and response decisions.

When another current option may suit better

Within Softer, compare FG100 for a zero-carbon fibreglass route or W1 / W1+ for wooden-core options. Compare CF15 if you want another soft composite construction with more carbon in the laminate.

Sizes

The current product is configured in 34", 35", 36.5" and 37.5". Live availability is shown above.

OUTDOOR STICK GUIDANCE

Check the player requirement before you buy.

Outdoor choice starts with fit and the hockey you actually play. Bend, shape and construction should explain a useful difference, not create a good-better-best ladder.

Is the length workable? What hockey must it support? Would a specialist shape help the way you play? Which response can the player use?

Position, player level and carbon percentage can help describe a stick, but none of them automatically decides what suits you.
