2023 legacy model. The Evolution CKF85 remains a valid Mercian choice where the player's fit, Pro or Mid shape and preference for a balanced / direct response match. It is previous-generation stock: price and remaining availability are purchase trade-offs, not reasons for suitability.

How it fits the Mercian choice system

  • Fit: 36.5-inch and 37.5-inch lengths, with some 39-inch Pro stock.
  • Bend: Pro and Mid are genuinely different Mercian shapes. The Mid bend is the higher, straighter, more traditional-shape option, with a 22mm bow positioned 300mm from the head. It aligns the hands more closely with the stick face and can favour hitting and slapping accuracy.
  • Response: Balanced / Direct — a responsive, firmer feel while retaining more balance than the most direct / powerful constructions.

Construction and feel

85% carbon with fibreglass and Kevlar reinforcement plus vibration-control materials. Carbon percentage describes construction and response; it is not a player-level score.

Trade-off: choose the shape that matches how you play, then compare legacy price and remaining stock with current alternatives. Mid is a legacy Mercian bend and is not part of the current 2026 bend range.

OUTDOOR STICK GUIDANCE

Check the player requirement before you buy.

Outdoor choice starts with fit and the hockey you actually play. Bend, shape and construction should explain a useful difference, not create a good-better-best ladder.

Is the length workable? What hockey must it support? Would a specialist shape help the way you play? Which response can the player use?

Position, player level and carbon percentage can help describe a stick, but none of them automatically decides what suits you.
