After a very successful year In 2007 Mercian Schools of Hockey have continued to develop their course and have expanded them for 2008. Having forged links with the Irish Hockey Association and Scottish Hockey Union we have built on this and developed a link with the Welsh Hockey Union for a course in August.

The annual course at Beeston, Nottingham will be fully residential again and due to the success of last years course are having to limit the numbers this year so please book your placess early.

All courses are for both Goalkeepers and Coaches/Teachers to develop their skills and technical knowledge of the game.

Each course provides tuition suitable for players of all ages and abilities, these courses will enable any hockey enthusiasts to develop and hone their skills.
Teachers and coaches can also improve their knowledge and coaching expertise.

Held at Hockey centres and sports facilities nationwide, there will be a course near you. Alternatively if you would be interested in your club hosting a Mercian Hockey day then please get in touch with Alan McMurray to discuss things further.

The course programmes are specifically geared to improving basic techniques and essential skills. Time is devoted to increasing tactical awareness and developing team play thus maximising any individuals potential.

This is done using a combination of theory and practical work. Coaches give specific instruction and integrate exercises across positions. The courses are staffed by fully qualified coaches with experience at club, county, regional, national and international level.

Led by current International players and coaches and fully accredited staff, these courses give a unique opportunity to be taught by people with top-level practical and theoretical knowledge.
